Kahla / Midgard Table Lamp Model No. AA 300 TGL 22864
Workshop task light from the 1950s - 1970s
Designer: Curt Fischer
Manufacturer: Midgard / VEB, Metallverarbeitung Kahla
This table lamp by Kahla was made in Germany according to a design by industrial designer Curt Fischer in the 1940s / 1950s. Fischer's designs of the "steerable light" are regarded as groundbreaking for the work at the Bauhaus and were formative for the luminaire development of the following decades. These luminaires continued to be produced in the GDR under the name Midgard / Kahla.
The present small table lamp with an articulated arm is characterized by a solid and extremely functional design. The durable joints are smooth but firm, the luminaire can be rotated horizontally around the axis of the table mount, adjusted vertically by the scissor arm and also rotated on the lamp head - i.e. movement around 3 axes and thus ideally equipped for daily workshop use. The luminaire is screwed to the workplace with three screws.
The present lamp has a grey lacquer and an aluminium lampshade. The lamp works perfectly and is in good original condition with usual signs of use on the surfaces - see photos.
