Antique Thonet bentwood children's high chair, around 1900
High-quality collector's item: Antique children's chair made of bentwood, Thonet - Vienna, early 20th century. "Hoher Kinder Fauteuil Nr. 1 mit Rohrlehne" as mentioned in the catalogue of 1904 - Design Michael Thonet. Under the seat is the Thonet embossing stamp, which guarantees the authenticity of the chair.
The chair is made of beech wood, screwed and provided with a bentwood ring for stabilization. The seat and backrest are made of hand-woven Viennese mesh, which is in very good condition. The chair has two curved armrests. The chair is of high quality and in good condition with the usual signs of use on the surfaces: all screw connections have been tightened and the surface is stained with shellac and painted (refreshed). the chair is the same color as the high chair in my shop: rosewood.
