Very rare vintage swivel stool made of metal and Bakelite in good condition. Designed by Jean Prouvé in 1930 for AB Odelberg Olsen, Sweden. With this pioneering design, Prouvé was way ahead of his time. The chair is in good condition. The Bakelite seat is shiny. The chair legs show paint chips, the Bakelite surface on the underside has a small break.
The spindle is locked in place by a plastic lock nut. The actual nut in the frame is quite low, however, so the spindle wobbles a little without this lock nut. However, since the plastic lock nut is softer than the steel spindle, it has understandably become a little worn over the decades. To counteract this design flaw, I made a new nut - see photo. With this nut, the spindle can be locked in place better, making the seat more stable. Both nuts are included.
