Restored bentwood stool by GENO - beech, circa 1920. The stool is made of bent beechwood and features a bentwood ring beneath the seat for stabilization. This construction principle was developed by Michael Thonet and used in many of his chairs and stools. The seat is made of slightly inwardly curved plywood. Since the stool was likely once used as a plant stand, the top layer of the plywood has warped and cracked in places due to moisture. The surfaces have therefore been sanded and recoated with a very hard shellac. Quality comparable to Thonet or Kohn.
The stool is now in good, restored overall condition: all screws are tight and the surfaces have been hand-polished with shellac.
Height 47 cm
Seat diameter 37 cm
