Hand-carved African stool of the Oromo people – an ethnic group in Ethiopia and Kenya – dating from the early 20th century. This three-legged stool was carved from a single tree trunk and has an inwardly curved seat. The three legs are also curved inwards. Due to its age, it shows significant patina and signs of wear: one leg has been repaired at the bottom – see detail photo. There are traces of blue paint on the outer edge of the seat.
